Product launch – Meet the Kissamaja!
Uppsala, Sweden, April 30, 2025 — We’re proud to announce the official launch of our first product: the Kissamaja, a unisex pop-up urinal designed to make sanitation more sustainable and inclusive. We debuted the Kissamaja during Valborg 2025 in Uppsala, one of Sweden’s largest and most iconic spring festivals.
Circular sanitation in action
In collaboration with the Uppsala municipality, we installed 10 Kissamaja units in Ekonomikum Park. Over the course of the weekend, festival-goers used the urinals to help us collect 15,000 litres of urine.
We’re now processing this into approximately 500 kg of nutrient-rich, dry fertilizer — a major step in our mission to transform human waste into valuable agricultural resources and close the nutrient loop.
Meet the Kissamaja
The Kissamaja is a gender-inclusive, resource-efficient, and portable urinal built for large gatherings like festivals, city events, and public parks. Its design ensures comfort, quick use, and sustainability, allowing us to reduce queues, promote accessibility, and recover nutrients on-site.
Earlier this year, we tested a prototype version at a Swedish environmental conference, along with ceramic unisex urinals that can be used for indoor installation. The successful deployment at Valborg marks the Kissamaja’s first official public launch — and a key milestone in our product development.

What happens next?
The collected urine is being stored in Uppsala, where we’re processing it using our drying technology. After the drying, it will be granulated into small pellets that fit conventional farming equipment, making it easy for farmers to use. This way, the urine becomes a safe, dry fertilizer that can be applied in agriculture, supporting healthier soils and more sustainable food systems.
The fertilizer recovered from this one event will contribute to local farming in Sweden — without relying on synthetic inputs or polluting water systems.
🎯 Why the Kissamaja matters
-
It’s inclusive – Everyone can use it, regardless of gender.
-
It’s sustainable – We recover nutrients instead of flushing them away.
-
It’s scalable – Designed for quick deployment at high-traffic events.
What we heard
The feedback from festival attendees and event organizers was clear: people appreciated the cleanliness, accessibility, simplicity, and purpose of the Kissamaja. It sparked conversations, raised awareness, and proved that public sanitation can be part of the solution to global sustainability challenges. And many women were happy that they didn’t have to queue as long as they normally do – win, win!
